This past weekend my boyfriend, sister and I went on our annual Christmas tree hunt. We drove through the lightly sprinkling snow to a sweet little tree farm in the country in search of the perfectly imperfect Christmas tree. Upon arrival, I knew I had my work cut out for me; the trees were all meticulously trimmed and far too perfect. After a bit of searching I spotted the tree at the far corner of the farm! Here is a photo summary of our exciting (and snowy!) day.

I have two close friends who have just bought their first house together and are having a party tonight. Since we are in full swing of the holiday season a pair of homemade stockings seemed fitting. I recycled 2 great sweaters and added matching red wool loops. I hope Santa stuffs these full!

To kick off the holiday season I visited the coastal town of Rockland with my boyfriend and his family. We spent our day shopping at the boutiques and vintage shops on Main Street. Boy, was it chilly! I swear I spotted at least eight snowflakes! To warm up we stopped at Rock City for a round of delicious hot drinks and perused the shelves at Hello Hello Books. A personal highlight, the Farnsworth Museum offered a beautiful array of art accompanied by holiday music. We wrapped up the day by watching the holiday parade, complete with a giant lobster float decorated in red lights, a lit sailboat, and a classic red truck hauling the perfect little Christmas tree. If you should find yourself in the mid coast Maine region this holiday I highly recommend stopping by for a festive visit!

I finished my sweater quilt this past weekend and it is now up in the shop! This quilt is crafted of beautiful upcycled wool and cotton sweater swatches. Ivory, creams and oatmeal with pops of light and charcoal grays result in a calming organic palette. The quilt has 100% cotton batting, is backed with 100% prewashed cotton indigo gray fabric, and has been finished with hand-sewn edges.
Perfect as a cozy throw on your couch or an additional layer on a twin bed this quilt is ideal for cool, crisp days.

1. I found this little guy on Pinterest and absolutley had to make him for the pumpkin carving party I hosted last week.
2. While out and about I found some great cobalt blue bulk lacing and knew immediately that I had to have it to spruce up my Bean boots! I love the pop!
3. Packed up and ready to go for our trip up to Bar Harbor this past weekend. But not before a quick pit stop in Rockland for a Peter Wolf concert! (4.)

Once a delicate layer of frost covers the landscape I unearth my wool blankets and quilts for cozy reading on the couch and toasty nights in bed. Over the last few days I have indulged in some of the things that make me happy. Art, food, Maine and friends! Here is what I’ve been up to…
1. Earlier this week I was browsing Etsy and on a whim searched for “paint by numbers”. I’ve had a love of paint by numbers for some time, so when I found this lovely set of lighthouse paintings from Johnny Vintage I splurged and bought it. I am thrilled every time I walk through my dinning room! Picture via Johnny Vintage
2. Is there anything better than a warm, homemade ginger snap cookie? I know it’s hard to envision, but yes there is! I just baked off a batch of my grandmother’s classic ginger snaps and got just a little creative with some ice cream. A scoop of French vanilla ice cream between two cookies makes for a share-worthy sandwich. My boyfriend and I polished off our ginger snap ice cream sandwich in record time with an accompanying glass of milk. What a marvelous way to enjoy warm homemade cookies!
3. Enjoying the seasonal foliage in the rain.
4. One night after work when all the shops and boutiques in Portland, ME were closed and sleeping, I popped into the city for a stroll and some window-shopping. I especially love the old cobblestone streets around the city, and here on Wharf Street.
5. That same night I grabbed a bite to eat with some friends at Portland Lobster Co. Despite the cold, rainy October evening we thoroughly enjoyed our heated tent on the wharf overlooking the waterfront.
