I can hear the bells now…

2 very different and very wonderful save-the-dates arrived in my mailbox and I had to share! The first is a beautiful letterpressed postcard designed and printed by the very talented couple, Ben Levy & Lili Donnelly. The second is illustrated by my friend Kevin Walker for the bride and groom to be who share a fantastic sense of humor. I cannot wait for this fall!

greetings! part II

here are a couple more from the series. (some of these photos may look familiar.)

greetings!

Remember that post awhile back about vintage postcards? I was inspired to make my own rendition (here is a process shot.) I scanned the drawing today and have been playing around with it on my computer. More to come tomorrow!

P.S. The above picture was taken this past weekend on a lobstering excursion. More pictures to come soon!

Vacationland

last weekend I traveled with my boyfriend and his family to a beachside community for some sun, pier fries and sand. here is a snapshot of the trip.

vintage postcards

I absolutely love them! I am also very excited for a little holiday I will be taking with my boyfriend up to my home away from home in Bar Harbor this coming weekend. How I wish I could find a postcard like the one below to send greetings to loved ones. Do not forgot how much fun it is to send and receive snail mail!!

I found these treasures here.

PINTEREST

what a lovely concept! Pinterest is an online community where you can share collections you love. It is an incredible source for inspiration! This is a screen grab from a photography board. If you have a few moments you are going to want to check out this gem.

PAUL OCTAVIOUS

I am blown away by the work of Chicago-based designer and photographer, Paul Octavious. His stacked book numbers and letterforms caught my eye on fffound.com which lead me on a search for his site. Paul’s work ranges from stunning photographs of landscapes and portraits to his installations of books and melted records. He fills his weekdays working as the co-founder and designer for Broken Pencils. You can find more at Paul’s flickr page. I cannot wait to see what comes next!

it’s a magazine kind of month!

This month is all about design/ers in good magazines! I had the opportunity to work on an incredible project with a talented group of designers, professors and professionals during my senior year at MICA. We traveled to Greensboro, Alabama to work with HERO, a non-profit housing resource center. While in Greensboro our group worked with John Bielenberg, founder of project m and the idea of thinking wrong. Through a 48-hour blitz of thinking wrong we developed the concept for bringing awareness of HERO to both the local and outside community. Our final design was featured in this months issue of HOW magazine.  As a testament to John’s visionary thinking, philosophy and design, he is featured this month in MAINE the magazine. This is one of the most beautifully designed magazines to come out of Maine, featuring breathtaking photography, design, culture and cuisine … the list goes on! While John is a partner in the San Francisco design strategy firm C2 he lives in Belfast, ME. He welcomes young creatives each year to the Bielenberg Institute at the Edge of the Earth to think wrong in order to create social change through innovation. Both great magazines are worth checking out! (if you want me to mail you a copy of MAINE let me know)
