Over Columbus Day weekend I enjoyed a change of scenery with my boyfriend and family on a little getaway to Rangeley, Maine. We hit the road after work on Friday and took a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of our daily routines. As a child growing up, I took annual trips to this quintessential Maine town for leaf peeping, hiking and cozy family gatherings around the fireplace. Since then it has become one of my favorite destinations for fly fishing and camping trips with friends.
The Rangeley region of Maine is dominantly lakes and ponds with rolling mountains. There are six larger lakes and literally hundreds of other smaller lakes, ponds, and rivers. The views are breathtaking and we were there in the thick of fall foliage. During this time the landscape is ablaze with brilliant shades of gold, russet, citron and red hues.
