I have two close friends who have just bought their first house together and are having a party tonight. Since we are in full swing of the holiday season a pair of homemade stockings seemed fitting. I recycled 2 great sweaters and added matching red wool loops. I hope Santa stuffs these full!

While I was working on my chevron quilt I may have begun a second quilt… one night I started playing and this is where I finished. I am using different shades of olive khakis, chambray and camel colored cottons. Fingers crossed it won’t take me a year to complete this one!
A couple weekends ago I went on a little coastal tour of mid coast Maine in search of a lamp for my dresser. The afternoon flew by as I dropped into any antique or vintage store I spotted along the way. I found 2 vintage sailboat glasses at an Antique Show, further down the road I found 2 orange and white striped glasses! Then this past week I finally found my lamp at a little shop in Freeport across from the L.L.Bean flagship store. The antique lamp has a marble base with unique bird lampshade.
It is hard for me to imagine that I started this project a year ago! That said I am very proud to announce I finally finished my first quilt! I used repurposed denim and chambray fabrics to complete this queen sized quilt just in time for the incredible 80 degree spring weather this past week. The final product is just what I imagined although I wasn’t quite prepared for the time required to finish this “little” project (hence the 12 month timeframe.) Now my bed looks a little more on trend with the times.

Here are a few more shots from my summer escape to beautiful Monhegan a couple weeks ago. Fingers crossed I make it back this fall!

To date I have sewn a couple of rows together for my quilt, but have set it aside for the time being as I embark on my first commissioned wedding dress! The beginning of April was spent patterning, cutting and sewing. It is so exciting to see it all come together! I cannot wait to share it with you.

I am one of the biggest fans of stripes, but let a few too many into my life. (my living room to be exact.) The room had striped pillows, a striped throw and a striped chair. After finding the perfect fabrics the makeover began! I had a great old oxford shirt with a hole in it and a pile of chambray scraps and together these blues fit the bill. I removed the original pillow cases and used them as a guide for the new ones. I pieced the scraps together like a puzzle flipping one sleeve this way and one sleeve that way, a front placket here and a collar there. Below is a snap shot of the project!
